Wait My Time – A 2MefromHim Devotional

Wait my time is a phrase God has spoken to me often in recent months. Times of trial often cause us to act out of fear and frustration. We long to resolve conflicts, but God will do far more than we can imagine if we only wait on his time and his way. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Wait My Time

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. 2 Timothy 4:18

Wait My Time scripture

Wait my time. Be still. When relationships falter and uncertainty about the future threatens, God whispers in the susurrus of wind through the trees. Difficult days open my heart to the Lord as flowers to sun. While spring winds batter our hillside home with juddering gusts, the sunny vista of mountain ranges spreading to the north reminds me of what lies beyond—the things I cannot see. Trust me.

Our backyard is an aerobatics venue for birds of many kinds. Wings flapping against the buffeting winds, they battle their way to the head of the horseshoe-shaped vale only to swoop upward on invisible drafts, hovering, wings spread as they soar with ease on gusts that cause me to cringe, before dropping and beginning again. Over and over, they soar, plunge, and soar again. They play without care on the howling breeze as it screams down chimneys and scatters dust devils across the valley below.

Birds delight in storms that make me want to hide away, covering my ears against the unceasing wail for they have no fear. In the same way, I must learn to ride the winds of trial and change in peace. My God resides in the storm as well as in the calm. “But He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous].” Job 23:10 AMP Wait my time.

Don’t rush to speak my thoughts. Don’t fear what lies ahead. The same God who calmed the sea and stilled the storm with his voice is the God who carries me through each day. I cannot hide from his presence or escape to a place where he does not reside. All my days through the end of my life are written on the palm of his hands. He knows the plan and works in hearts my words cannot touch. He surrounds me on all sides and holds me up when I feel faint. Wait my time.

As the tiny hummingbird perches in complete calm on the dead tree limb outside my window, paying no heed to the buffeting winds, I can wait in peace. It does my heart no good to focus on the storm. Instead, I must gaze ahead to those places unseen, knowing my Lord is already there and will not allow me to fall as long as my hand rests in his. Wait my time. Trust me.
