My God – A 2MefromHim Devotional

My God. What a privilege to know that he is mine and I am his through every circumstance of life. I’m reposting this blog from 2018 while I take a short break to visit with my daughter. Enjoy!

2MefromHim Devotional

My God

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart
. Psalm 91:4

My God scripture

My God. Wings of refuge and safety. Perhaps nothing in nature evokes such an image of love and protection as that of baby birds taking shelter in the safety of their mother’s wings.

My God Comforts My Anxious Heart

In recent weeks, my heart has longed for a place to hide from the world in peace. Turmoil in personal relationships, heavy responsibilities, upcoming surgery, my own problems, and those of others weigh me down all at once. Oh, how I long for a refuge from the chaos that batters from without and causes me to quake within.

Home, on my mountainside, I can sometimes hide. However, raging winds of drought buffet the house and howl in the chimneys and the world makes its way in with phone calls and texts. In the middle of sleepless nights, I run to the Lord in prayer. Praise songs uplift and comfort with reminders of God’s great love.

My God Never Changes

When all about me seems torn and shaken, God remains the same. Moreover, His word paints vivid pictures of “everlasting arms”, my Lord racing his chariot on the clouds to my aide, and a strong tower where I can find rest and shelter. I need not feel alone or afraid, for my Jesus will “never leave or forsake me”. “He knows the way I take.” His Holy Spirit prays for me when I can’t find the words. He is my shelter from the storm and knows what I need and when.

Furthermore, in the times when it seems my prayers bounce off the ceiling, He hears me and speaks, though often in a “gentle whisper”. You see, He wants me to listen, to run to Him and seek His help, to trust when I have no answers, to wait when I see no action.

My God’s Supplies All I Need

God’s sovereignty helps me know His time is perfect. His names tell me all that He will do for me. He is Jehovah, “I Am Who I Am”; Jehovah-Jireh, “the God who provides”; El-Shaddai, “God Almighty”; Jehovah-shalom, “the God of peace”; Jehovah-Rophe, “the God who heals”; Jehovah-Nissi, “God our banner”; Adonai, “Master” or “Lord”; Elohim, “Strength” or “Power”; “The God who sees me”; the “lifter of my head”, “the Comforter”; Abba, “Daddy” or “Father”; Immanuel, “God with us”, and so much more. He is full of love, grace, hope, help, everything I need.

Above all, when you repeat the names of God, trials, and trouble seem to recede and all things become possible. I can take refuge under His wings and find the rest my soul craves, for He is my all in all.

  1. Norma, this is beautiful. I often applied the names of the Lord to my life and situations too. I believe that is part of His plan – to know Him that much and to rely on His attributes. I have been praying for you 🙂

  2. So thankful God is our everything and always with us no matter the situation. Thank you for sharing this uplifting post and great reminder our God is everything. Blessings as you continue writing.
