Peace Regained

Every soul who longs for peace can receive it this Christmas. It is the gift of Jesus Christ to everyone who truly believes. The hope of Christmas is peace regained.

2MefromHim Devotional

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:6-7

Peace without end, the longing of every heart, the hope of every soul. Wrapped in the annals of mystery and time, the verses speak the desire of every nation and man. We long for wisdom and help. We pray for peace. But they seem to elude the majority of our world.

The promise was given six thousand years ago, bundled in with a curse. A Redeemer would crush the head of man’s enemy and destroy the evil serpent that stole paradise with twisted words and false assurances.

When the promised Redeemer finally arrived He was humble, lowly, born in a stable and put to death on a criminal’s Cross. He was not what anyone was looking for, so they nailed Him to a tree and buried Him in a grave. How could God die?

Jesus, Immanuel, the One who would save His people from their sins died. But He rose again. Easter morning Peace Regained 2brought the miracle of resurrection and the hope of new life became fact. The child who lay in a manger, foretold by prophets, sought by Magi, and heralded by angels, rose from the grave. And in that one, unimaginable moment, the promise of peace was guaranteed. Someday man’s Redeemer will return.

In those moments when the hardship of life seems too heavy, when one more day seems too long, and escape is nowhere in sight, a star shines down through the ages. Brighter and more intense as the world grows darker, the Prince of Peace offers hope and help. When evil seems to triumph and answers are impossible to find, one shining promise beckons on the horizon—someday our Prince will come.

As unlikely as it seems, a baby held the promise of paradise regained. All Jesus asks is the faith of honest hearts who repent of the sins He died to vanquish. Those who trust in God’s promises will live for eternity in the kingdom of the Prince of Peace.

The peace starts the instant someone professes their faith in Jesus Christ. It’s available today. The gift of Christmas is the Prince of Peace.

  1. That third from last paragraph – “a star shines down through the ages” – sums up this succinct piece beautifully. May it penetrate the heart of those who read and want to believe.

    • Amen! And thank you!

  2. You summed it up oh so well: “The gift of Christmas is the prince of peace”!!!! Thanks for this simple but wonderful message!
