Land of My Dreams, is my debut contemporary, Christian romance. I don’t talk a lot about my own book on my blog. It seems there are always other authors whose books I am promoting. In so many ways, Land of My Dreams is the book of my heart, and not just because it is my first. I would love to have you share today’s post with your friends and family! I would also love to hear your comments!

Land of My Dreams, the book of my heart
Land of My Dreams is free on Amazon today! If you have not read it yet, may I suggest you click on the book cover at the right of the screen and claim your free Kindle copy today! If you don’t have a Kindle, many e-readers allow you to download the free Kindle app, and it can also be downloaded onto your computer! But that’s not what I want to talk about. I want to tell you how Land of My Dreams came to be!
My lifelong dream was to be a published author, to see my name on the spine of a book, and my book on the shelf of a store or especially a library. Another of my dreams was to visit Scotland, the home of many of my ancestors, and a place that has fascinated me since the time I was a little girl. So in 2006, my husband and I headed for Scotland to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Little did I know that I would write a book, not about our experiences, though some of them made it into the story of Bonny and Kieran, but a story that came as a dream while we studied up on where we were going.
I didn’t have a clear picture of what the characters would look like when I sat down to write. My dream only included a man with bagpipes, standing on a misty mountainside surrounded by sheep. That man was to become Kieran MacDonell, the part-time math professor, full-time sheep farmer. It wasn’t until a couple of years into writing that I discovered my “Kieran” look-alike in an episode of the old “Christy” television series, Stewart Findlay-McLennan. (If you’ve read the book, remember the fishing scene?)
Bonny, the American college professor who meets Kieran while running from a broken engagement, took a while longer. I actually ran through several redheads before I discovered the one who fit Bonny most perfectly, movie star, Amy Adams. Though she does, in fact, lack Bonny’s trademark green eyes.
The story of Bonny and Kieran will hopefully continue, as I am currently
working on the sequel, Within Golden Bands. In the sequel, Bonny and Kieran are stalked, their lives endangered, and the future of their beloved Stonehaven Farm, patterned after this actual home on the shores of Loch Garry, Scotland, in question. A romantic suspense, there is non-stop drama from people I didn’t even know were a threat! Believe me, characters take on a life of their own!
Loch Garry is famous for being shaped like a map of Scotland from a viewpoint in the A87 highway, where my husband and I spend all of 10 minutes on a very cloudy day, but hey, it’s Scotland! I think the bridge across the loch makes it one of the most romantic lochs in Scotland.
Except for short periods, my brain has been living in Scotland since about 2005. I hope you enjoy this peek into the beginnings of Land of My Dreams and will take advantage of the great deal on Amazon today!
I will conclude with some great photos from our trip to Scotland, the Land of My Dreams, and places that appear in the book!
Please take advantage of the opportunity to get a free Kindle copy of Land of My Dreams free and share it with your friends!
Norma, what a beautiful selection of pictures. It brings me back into your book. I look forward to reading your next one too.
Blessings ~ Wendy
I’m working on that sequel tonight, Wendy!
Says Land of My Dreams is no longer available for free.
It was one free day only. I looked at Amazon at 9:25 pm Mountain Time, a few minutes ago and it was still free. I do not control that. My publisher has complete control of pricing and timing. Check again.
I don’t know if you followed the link from here on the website to Amazon, or if you read one of the posts about the Amazon Giveaway at https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/a16c9b44372b1457. Land of My Dreams was free 2 different ways today. Amazon has not informed me if the giveaway is over yet. However, the free Kindle day on Amazon should still be good for a few hours longer.
Click on the large image of the bookcover or the yellow spot under it, where it says “Buy Now.” That takes you to the book site on Amazon where it is free. If you clicked on the Goodreads giveaway link, that is not currently active.
