God Remembered Noah: A 2MefromHim Devotional

God remembered Noah. We all have those times when we think God has forgotten us. However, later we are able to see how God went before, prepared the way, kept us safe, and brought us out on the other side to begin anew. I would love to hear your comments!

God Remembered Noah

“And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him…And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood…Then the Lord shut him in…But God remembered Noah…” Genesis 7:5, 7, 16 & 8:1

God Remembered Noah scripture

A Noah’s Ark experience is something we all face from time to time in life.  Many years ago, my husband was jobless. I needed major surgery. Our three-year-old daughter needed surgery. It was a time of uncertainty.

We were following the Lord, serving Him and giving faithfully, but times of trouble still came. I remember clearly when my husband walked through the door with a box of his belongings at lunchtime and said he was going back to clean out his office. His boss said he was no longer needed. We had two small children and had no idea what to do.

It felt as if rain were beginning to fall and the flood might overwhelm us. We needed a place of safety. We had been meticulous about saving, but didn’t know how long the money would have to last. Facing big medical bills on top of the usual expenses didn’t help any.

A favorite Bible study leader calls times like this “Noah’s Ark experiences.” And I remembered how God remembered Noah. He and his family were kept safe within the ark while “all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens opened…” The waters raged outside and rose above the mountain tops. It was not smooth sailing, and probably downright frightening at times.

Like Noah and his family, sometimes we go through rough storms in life and can do nothing but ride it. The key is remember that Noah trusted in the promises God had given him beforehand. And God remembered Noah, his family, and all the animals, and kept them through the storm.

God, Himself, closed the door of the ark. Noah and his family knew God had placed them there and believed He would save them. They really didn’t have much choice. We reach times when we don’t have choices. Who do we trust when we have nowhere else to go?

God Remembered Noah

Believing God will bring us safely through our storms is our choice to make. We can get ourselves in real messes when we decide to go it on our own. The people who failed to trust and believe were destroyed.

When God shuts a door, He isn’t shutting us into a bad situation and shutting and Himself out. He remembers exactly where we are. Nine months later, God brought our family out of our storm, and He provided everything we needed in the midst of it.

What storm are you facing?

This world is full of uncertainties, but we can know God is with us. Just as God remembered Noah, He will remember us. Choose to believe God is in the storm with you and see what He will do.

  1. I love this Norma. My fondest recollection of the story of Noah is that “the Lord shut him in.” What a tender Father moment and the visual that God was right there with Noah in the midst of it all.

    • There is so much about the loving care of God in the story of Noah. It’s too bad people often only know it as a children’s story and don’t see the gems of godly truth. Bless you, Nan!

  2. Thank you for reminding me God already has our rescues planned. He’s a good Provider. It’s wise to remember past deeds He’s done for us and others; it boosts our faith.
    Blessings ~ Wendy <3
