Devotionals

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” 2 Timothy 4:2

I am certain of my calling. God has given me a tremendous desire to communicate with others for His glory. Therefore, I write and teach what He gives  me. I began writing devotionals to share at the opening of our weekly women’s Bible study. That one small act has led me to places I never imagined.

When our pastor asked me to write a weekly devotional for our church webpage, I accepted without hesitation. The idea for a weekly devotional blog was a natural outgrowth of what I was already doing. It’s exciting to see the readership grow. To have people from all over the world reading the insights God gives me is quite unexpected, and quite humbling to discover people in Russia, Asia, and Europe reading things I’ve written. I may not be a missionary in the traditional sense, I am a missionary from my computer.

If I fail to use my gifts in the way God intends, someone else will fulfill the task, but I will miss out on the blessing. My greatest joy comes when I help point people to Jesus. What God asks of us will not please others all the time, but we are to do it, nonetheless.

Sometimes the things I share are very personal. It is amazing when something I thought was for me alone speaks to someone else. The discomfort of allowing others into my life is eclipsed by the joy of knowing God has allowed me to minister to someone else.

We all have talents, abilities, and resources given to us by God, to be used for His glory. Choose today to use your gifts for the glory of God and to encourage and instruct others.
