In Love with Scotland: Book Week Scotland 2016

Is it possible to have a genetic connection to a place? To know when you’re not yet 10 years old that you HAVE to go somewhere, that you belong in a place far from where you were born? I want to honor my Scottish ancestors and show my respect for the history and perseverance of the Scottish people by offering a Kindle copy of my debut novel, Land of My Dreams, to celebrate Book Week Scotland 2016.

Book Week Scotland 2016

Land of My Dreams Book Giveaway

I think I was born with a love for Scotland. Growing up in the American Southwest, I was fascinated when and old family tree revealed a great grandmother from Scotland. I fell in love with bagpipes, tartans, castles, and heather-covered hills, but was never able to visit until I was 50 years old.

Though my ancestry search in not yet complete, I have Fraser blood running through my veins. However, I was unable to use that name because another American author, Diana Gabaldon, used it first.

The second I stepped off the plane in Edinburgh, I felt I belonged. The mist, the cloud-shrouded mountains, lochs, and glacier-carved landscape made want to stay and never go home. The planning of that trip and being married to a first generation Dutch-American set me to wondering. What would it be like to leave behind everything I had ever known and move to another country?

A recurring dream during the preparation for our 2006 trip to Scotland began to grow into the idea for a story—a story I had to write. Land of My Dreams is the story of my heart, the story of loss, grief, betrayal, anger, and love discovered anew while searching for escape—for hope.

Out of my great love for Scotland and its people, who were so kind and outgoing during our stay there, I am offering a chance to win a Kindle copy of my debut novel. Land of My Dreams is a contemporary Christian romance, written by an American and edited by a fellow American who attended the University of Glasgow.

Look around my website, particularly the section where you have the opportunity to read the first chapter of my book. As I often tell readers, this book was written because once upon a time, I fell in love with an accent and a kilt! Please sign in on the Rafflecopter below this article for a chance to win my book. I would also love your comments!

Book Blurb:

Alone and betrayed, American professor, Bonny Bryant longs for a haven of peace. She accepts a position at a small Christian college in Fort William, Scotland, craving escape from her painful past. The passionate love which develops when she meets fellow professor and sheep farmer, Kieran MacDonell, is something she never anticipated.

Kieran harbors a deep anger toward God in the face of his own devastating grief. When Bonny’s former fiancé reenters her life, Kieran’s loneliness draws him to a former student.

How will Bonny decide between her rivals? Can they set aside the past to make way for a future, or will it drive them apart?

Land of My Dreams spans the distance between New Mexico’s high desert mountains and the misty Scottish Highlands with a timeless story of overwhelming grief, undying love, and compelling faith.
